FORMAL GARDENS

A Picturesque Backdrop for Your Special Event

The Formal Gardens are located just to the west of the main parking lot and are accessed from there through a privet arch or a path leading from the Tented Pavilion. Marian Cruger Coffin designed this garden for the Fricks in the 1920s and it is considered one of her finest designs. When Frances and Childs Frick entertained guests here in the 1920s and 30s, a favorite afternoon entertainment was a leisurely stroll down the brick path from the house to the formal garden. This path, lined with specimen trees collected and planted by Childs Frick, is considered part of the garden’s design.

The historical and enchanting Formal Gardens offer a quintessential English garden setting that serves as the perfect picturesque backdrop for a myriad of events. From sophisticated cocktail receptions and fairy-tale wedding ceremonies to corporate retreats and captivating photoshoots, this versatile space transforms every occasion into a memorable experience. Guests are invited to immerse themselves in the beauty of the garden and outdoor art exhibits while leisurely strolling the grounds. Elevate your gatherings amidst the natural splendor of our Formal Gardens, where every moment becomes a work of art.
